Procurement

Being employed at Vilomix Denmark offers excellent opportunities for professional development in a flexible company where there is room to take responsibility and grow. Rasmus Lau Sørensen currently works in Procurement at Vilomix Denmark but has also held other positions within the company.

Words from Rasmus Lau Sørensen

After many years in the shipping industry, I chose in 2014 to accept a job at Vilomix Denmark, back then as a Supply Chain Coordinator in the purchasing department.

When I started as a new employee, I quickly gained a lot of responsibility in the job, which I found very positive and motivating. I see Vilomix Denmark as a very dynamic and flexible workplace where there is room to take responsibility and develop both professionally and socially. This is something I have experienced over the past 9 years of my employment.

While working as a Supply Chain Coordinator, I had the opportunity to take on the role of Supply Chain Manager and then later as a Lead Buyer in the Procurement department, where I am still employed today. One of the things I appreciate about my job is that decision-making processes are short. There is typically not much distance from idea to action. At the same time, as an employee at Vilomix Denmark, you have the opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility, which, for me, is a very satisfying factor in my everyday work.

I see Vilomix Denmark as a very dynamic and flexible workplace where there is room to take responsibility and develop both professionally and socially.

Additionally, we interact daily at the office with a team of highly skilled colleagues. They are all top-notch professionals and passionate about their respective areas, creating a dynamic and engaged workplace.

International environment and great colleagues
Vilomix is not just a local Danish company today; we have subsidiaries in several different countries, giving my workday an international dimension. For instance, we receive market updates from our colleagues in Shanghai early in the morning and then have a Teams meeting in the afternoon with a supplier in Brazil.

These are just a couple of examples from a typical day as a Lead Buyer.
As a Lead Buyer at Vilomix Denmark, one is responsible for a group of raw materials, meaning you have to stay informed about the market situation and make decisions about choosing suppliers and finalizing procurement contracts. This also involves a fair amount of travel, typically related to supplier visits, supplier evaluations, and participation in fairs and exhibitions.

There are excellent opportunities for professional development, such as further education. I have taken several courses in leadership and procurement at Business Academy Aarhus, and there is always strong support for participating in courses, conferences, or education – all aimed at enhancing the skills of our employees for the benefit of Vilomix and the employees.

In addition to being employed in a professional and exciting company with a lot of responsibility and short decision-making processes, we also value social engagement at Vilomix. A highly functional staff association continuously organizes exciting events where we meet across different departments, enjoy each other's company, and discuss everything that is not related to our work.
